Anas said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah say, ‘Allah has said, “Son of Adam, as long as you ask of Me and hope in Me I will pardon you in spite of what you have done — and I do not care. Son of Adam, even if your wrong actions were piled as high as the clouds in the sky, and then you asked My forgiveness, I would forgive you — and I do not care. Son of Adam, even if you were to approach Me with enough sins to fill the earth, and then you met Me, not associating anything with Me, then I would grant you just as much forgiveness.’“
Knowledge is also the shortest path to Allah. Whoever travels the road of knowledge reaches Allah and the Garden by the shortest route. Knowledge also clears the way out of darkness, ignorance, doubt and skepticism. It is why Allah called His Book, “Light”.
Al-Bukhari and Muslim have reported on the authority of Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah [صلى الله عليه وسلم] said;
“Truly, Allah will not take away knowledge by snatching it away from people, but by taking away the lives of the people of knowledge one by one until none of them survive. Then the people will adopt ignorant ones as their leaders. They will be asked to deliver judgement and they will give them without knowledge, with the result that they will go astray and lead others astray.”

Narrated Anas: “That the Meccan people requested Allah’s Messenger (Muhammad; PBUH) to show them a miracle, and so he showed them the splitting of the moon.“
“The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two], And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: Prolonged illusion, And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term.“
In the collection of Muslim, the following is narrated on the authority of Ibn Abbas:
“Once while the Prophet was among a group of the Helpers, they saw a shooting star. The Prophet (صل الله عليه وسلم) said: ‘What did you used to say in the jahiliya when you saw these?‘ They said: ‘We used to say that some great person has died or some great person has been born.‘ The Prophet said: ‘Verily, these are not thrown for the death of anyone, nor for the life of anyone. Rather whenever our Lord decrees something, the carriers of the Throne praise Him, then the inhabitants of Heaven below them, then those below them, until their praise reaches this lowest heaven. Then, the inhabitants of the seventh heaven ask the carriers of the Throne: What has your Lord said? So they inform them, then the inhabitants of each heaven ask those above them, until the news reaches the lowest heaven. Then the devils try to steal a listen, but these things are thrown at them. (Whatever they get) they send to their allies. That which they deliver as it is, is the truth, but they add to it.‘“
Abu Dharr reported from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in what is related from what Allah the Blessed and Almighty said,
“O My slaves! I have forbidden injustice to Myself and I have made it unlawful between you, so do not wrong one another.
O My slaves! All of you are misguided except those that I guide, so seek My guidance and I will guide you.
O My slaves! All of you are hungry except those that I feed so ask me for food and I will feed you.
O My slaves! All of you are naked except those that I clothe so ask me for clothing and I will clothe you.
O My slaves! You make mistakes by night and by day and I forgive all wrong actions so ask for My forgiveness and I will forgive you.
O My slaves! You will never attain to My harm so as to be able to harm Me and you will never attain to My benefit so as to be able benefit Me.
O My slaves! If the first and last of you, all the jinn and all the men among you, possessed the heart of the most godfearing man among you, that would not increase My kingdom in any way.
O My slaves! If the first and last of you, all the jinn and all the men among you, possessed the heart of the most evil man among you, that would not decrease My kingdom in any way.
O My slaves! If the first and last of you, all the jinn and all the men among you, were to stand in a single place and ask of Me, I could give to every man what he asks without that decreasing what I have any more than a needle when it enters the sea.
O My slaves! It is your actions for which I call you to account and then repay you in full. So anyone who finds good should praise Allah and anyone who finds something else should blame none but himself.“
`Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) saying: “If you all depend on Allah with due reliance, He would certainly give you provision as He gives it to birds who go forth hungry in the morning and return with full belly at dusk“. [At-Tirmidhi].
Commentary: Trust in Allah does not mean that one should not give any importance to material resources. What it really means is that along with their due importance, one should have full trust in Allah. Without His Will, material resources are of no avail. But nevertheless it is necessary to have material resources because their procurement is also ordained by Him. Birds do not keep sitting in their nests for food but fly out in search of it.
The Prophet Muhammad [SAW] went to the companions and recited Surah Ar-Rahman but they were all quiet. He told them that he went to the jinn and recited it to them and they were responsive. And when he would recite the verses “And which of the favors of the Lord will you deny” the jinn would respond “There is nothing among your bounties that we can deny, all praise belong to Allah” [2/474]
